Breaking The Conspiracy Theories Regarding Sudan Gurung Dai Of Hami Nepal

Sudan Gurung

Amidst an ongoing protest, there has been a recent attempt to defame the name of popular activist and Gen Z protest activist Sudhan Gurung.

Even though he promised not to take any powerful positions, some people are still trying to damage his reputation.

This selfless activist is being blamed for being an agent of India, the friend of corrupt politicians, and whatnot. In fact, people are even blaming him for not being Nepali.

So, today, as a Gen Z, I am writing this article with the hope of breaking this conspiracy theory that revolves around this true patriot.

Who Is Sudan Gurung?

Born on June 19, 1987, Sudan Gurung is originally from Gorkha, Nepal. He is one of the main faces who helped in overthrowing the Oli government.

Before devoting his life to a social cause, he used to be a DJ who organized events as well.

However, when every Nepali was suffering in the 2015 earthquake, he decided to devote his whole life to Nepal.

This sudden change came when he saw a child losing their life during a relief operation.

After that, he formed an NGO named Hami Nepal.

Besides that, his NGO also played a major role during the COVID-19. During that time, he helped all Nepalis by creating a platform that helped in letting people know about the availability of hospital beds and oxygen.

He and his organization consulted with doctors and hospitals all around Nepal. Indirectly, they saved many lives during that time. (A BIG THANK YOU).

If we keep talking about his achievements, this article would be quite long. So, let’s not do that.

Why Gen Z Choose Sudan Gurung As Their Representative?

Being present on both days of the protest, I can say that Sudan Gurung was present on both days of the protest.

Furthermore, he was handing out water, snacks, and essential items to all the protesters.

Even at the end of the protest on day 1, his organization was out there cleaning the dirty roads on Maitighar.

Furthermore, during the protest, he was the one person whom everyone looked up to.

Besides that, on day 2 of the protest, our agendas weren’t clear as well. And yet again, he collaborated with different experienced and skilled individuals to formulate an agenda.

He, himself, talked with many channels and worked continuously to ensure that we have a better future ahead.

Besides that, he also tried his best to collaborate with all the protestors to find a common ground.

While Gen Z might be unserious at times, they can see the efforts some true personnel were making.

Due to his valuable contribution, most of Gen Z felt safe to see Sudan as their representative.

Disclaimer: I am not from Hami, Nepal. I have never met Sudan Gurung Dai personally either. I am only sharing my point of view, and I do support them.

Breaking The Conspiracy Theory About Sudan Gurung Dai

Even after giving so many contributions, his moral compass is still questioned. Here are some conspiracy theory that surrounds him and reasons why these are all fake and baseless.

1. Sudan Gurung’s Nationality Is Nepali

All of these questions about his Nationality arose due to the guy from Sikkim bearing a similar name. In fact, they are both activists as well. (Talk about coincidence).

But the fact is, he is NEPALI. If you want the proof, there is even his citizenship that has circulated on the Internet.

The Citizenship that’s circulating online

In fact, even Sudhan Gurung, the indian one, has released an official statement on Facebook urging people not to get confused between them.

The Indian Sudhan Gurung stated:

” It has come to my notice that some media houses have mistakenly circulated my image in connection with the recent political protests in neighbouring Nepal.
I formally state that the person ‘Sudan Gurung’ participating in these protests is a citizen of Nepal and is a different person altogether with no relation to me in any form.
Incidentally both of us bear the same name and it stops here.”

2. Sudan Gurung’s Affiliation with Political Parties

The other thing that’s going on around the Internet is that Sudan Gurung is affiliated with political parties.

All of this started when his picture with Arzu Rana Deuba circulated on Facebook, where they seemed like they were talking.

Yeah, it’s normal to think about his affiliation.

But the truth is something else. Back on 16 February 2025, a Nepali girl named Prakriti Lamsal, who studied in KIIT, India, committed suicide.

Later, through her friends, all people came to know that she was verbally abused by her Indian ex-boyfriend for months. In fact, from her friends, everyone came to know that the poor girl had complained in her university time and again.

After that, KIIT kicked out all the Nepali students. This phenomenon enraged Sudan Gurung.

So, enraged, Sudan went to Arzu Rana, then foreign minister, to demand justice for the Nepali student.

The photo that’s circulating around the Internet seems to have been taken during that time.

There is also another reason why I think he is not from any political affiliations, and it’s quite simple, you only have to have common sense.

Why will someone with a political affiliation protest for overthrowing the government? Why will he even talk about dismissing the parliament? (Think about it !!!!)

3. Sudan Gurung Chose Old Sushila Karki Over Balen Or Harka Sampang

First and foremost, let me make this clear: he didn’t choose her; it was the majority vote from Gen Z. And there is a logic behind it.

Currently, our country is like the wild wild west, a country without law, judiciary, and even police to some extent.

The thing that’s needed for now is the election, and to conduct that, you need someone who is experienced with the law.

Since the protest was against the corruption, we couldn’t really trust anyone, could we?

But, there was someone who actively made a decision against a corrupt leader, and she didn’t have any hidden political agendas as well.

That person was our former chief justice, Sushila Karki.

Besides, electing the popular non-corrupted leader could mean that we might not see them in the next election.

All of us want Balen or Harka Sampang, but we don’t want them temporarily. We want them to serve for a full term. And to do that, this was the only way out.

Talking about Sudan, even in many of his podcasts, he has always shown support towards Harka Sampang.

4. Sudan Gurung Isn’t Gen Z

If you look from an age perspective, it’s true he isn’t Gen Z.

But his mindset, his goals, everything was perfectly aligned with the Gen Z. He has always provided the helping hand that most of the Gen Z desperately needed.

It’s true he isn’t Gen Z, but his action, his passion for the nation, and his heart are what make him suitable for making decisions for Gen Z.

Disclaimer: Again, it’s just my opinion !!!! Everyone can have their different opinions, right?

Why All of This Matters?

Our country requires everyone right now because we all know some parties are desperately looking for us to get divided.

With the help of social media, they are actively trying to defame our representative, who has worked continuously for many years.

AND HE DOESN’T DESERVE THIS !!!

But the truth is, they might succeed as well.

So, it’s high time to speak up and challenge those who are doubting with some facts.
